Jewish District Walking tour

The Jewish District is home to five centuries of history, a unique cultural heritage and idyllic green scenarios. We mainly walked through the Plantage area visiting all the essential landmarks like the Portuguese Synagogue, Botanic Gardens and the Auschwitz monument. The guide was quite knowledgeable and told us stories of war, social activism and artistic innovation.

  • they thrived in a city famous for its religious tolerance, until the Nazi occupation
