Jordaan Tour

The Jordaan is one Amsterdam's most famous neighbourhoods. It is probably the one most people associate with "Amsterdam" as you get the nice terraced brick houses, canals, little bridges. Last week I had the chance to go for a walking tour with a guide. It was quite interesting to know more about the history but also go into some courtyards.

Jordaan's facts:
  • The Jordaan was founded in 1612 for the workforce
  • Nowdays the Jordaan is one of the most wanted locations in Holland
  • Rembrandt lived the last years of his life in the Jordaan
  • The streets and canals where build according to the old ditches and paths
Jordaan's must see:
  • Anne Frank Huis
  • Noorderkerk
  • Gay Monument
  • Courtyards (Hofjes)
